MisterTranslate documentation

Welcome to the MisterTranslate documentation. Here you’ll find everything you need to start translating your WordPress site with artificial intelligence: from buying your first word pack to solving the most common issues. If you still have any questions after reading this guide, write to us at info@mistertranslate.com and we’ll help you.

Getting started

Getting started with MisterTranslate takes four simple steps:

  • Buy a pack on the pricing page. You can choose between 500, 2,500, 5,000 or 10,000 words depending on the size of your site.
  • Receive the email with your invoice, your Client ID and your Secret Key. Store the message in a safe place: the Secret Key is only shown once.
  • Install the plugin following the instructions on the download page.
  • Paste the credentials in MisterTranslate > Settings, save, and check that the balance indicator shows the total of the purchased pack.

How to translate

Once connected, translation is activated from the WordPress editor itself. You have two ways of working, which you can combine:

Activate target languages

Go to MisterTranslate > Languages and check the languages you want to translate into (for example, English, French, German, Portuguese). Each active language will add a version of the content when you launch a translation. You can add or remove languages at any time; the change does not affect translations that have already been created.

Translate a specific post

Open the post or page you want to translate. In the editor sidebar you’ll see the MisterTranslate panel with the “Translate” button. When you click it, you’ll see an estimate of the word usage and, after confirming, the versions in the active languages will be generated. The original content is not modified.

Automatic mode

In MisterTranslate > Settings > Automatic you can enable automatic translation of new posts as soon as they are published. Automatic mode respects the balance: if there are not enough words to translate an article, the task is cancelled and you receive a notification by email.

Balance management

The word balance is the only counter managed by MisterTranslate. There are no monthly quotas, subscriptions or recurring charges: you pay for a pack once and use it at your own pace.

Check your balance

You can see your current balance in two places:

  • In the client area, by going to mistertranslate.com/cuenta/.
  • In the plugin panel, inside WordPress, under MisterTranslate > Dashboard.

Both values are synchronized every few minutes. If you need to force an update, click Refresh balance in the plugin.

Buy more words

When the balance gets close to zero, a warning will appear in the dashboard. From the client area you can purchase a new pack; it will be added to the existing balance automatically as soon as the payment is confirmed. Packs do not expire.

Regenerate the Secret Key

When should I regenerate it?

Regenerate your Secret Key if you suspect that someone has had access to it, if a developer no longer works for you, or simply as a preventive measure from time to time.

How to regenerate it

Go to mistertranslate.com/cuenta/credenciales/ and click Regenerate Secret Key. The new key will be shown only once; copy it to a safe place. The old key will be invalidated instantly.

Update the plugin after regenerating

After regenerating, you must paste the new Secret Key in MisterTranslate > Settings in your WordPress. Until you do so, translations will fail with an authentication error. The Client ID does not change.

Technical FAQ

What counts as a word?

A “word” is any sequence of characters separated by spaces or punctuation marks in the original text that you send to be translated. HTML, attributes and tags do not count as words. By default, MisterTranslate counts the words before translating, and that is the amount deducted from the balance.

How are tokens calculated?

Internally, AI models work with tokens. In the worst observed case (languages with complex morphology), a word can consume up to ~7.4 tokens; on average the ratio is much lower. The client, however, only sees words: the conversion to tokens is transparent and MisterTranslate assumes the cost if any translation requires more tokens than expected.

Which languages are supported?

MisterTranslate supports the main European languages (Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Catalan, Dutch, Polish, Russian) and a growing set of Asian languages. The full and up-to-date list is available inside the plugin under MisterTranslate > Languages.

Troubleshooting

The plugin doesn’t connect to the server

Check three things: (1) that the Client ID and Secret Key are pasted without whitespace; (2) that your server can make outgoing HTTPS connections to api.mistertranslate.com; (3) that your site’s SSL certificate is valid. If the error persists, click Test connection in the plugin and send us the exact message it shows.

The balance is not updating

The balance is synchronized every few minutes. If it still doesn’t update after clicking Refresh balance, log out and log back into /cuenta/. In exceptional cases (CDN outages) the update may take up to 30 minutes. If more time has passed, contact us with your order number.

A translation fails

When a translation fails, the balance is not deducted: you are only charged for what is actually translated. Check the log in MisterTranslate > History to see the error. The most common failures are due to blocking of very large content or temporary server limits; try splitting the post into parts or increasing max_execution_time.
